Bridging the gap between classic reportage and editorial wedding photography in London and beyond
I’ve always said that my wedding photography involves just 10% work with a camera. It’s more about finding real genuine moments and connecting with you and your guests in a way that lets me immerse myself naturally into the day. I shoot from the inside rather than as an onlooker. It allows me to create an authentic collection of wedding images that represent who you really are. Real, honest, beautiful wedding photography that will look as incredible now as they will in 100 years time. My aim is to take authentic moments and make them into beautiful editorial style photographs that could feature in any global fashion publication. Natural interactions between you guys and your guests, captured from the inside of your wedding.
At the core of everything I’m trying to sell to you as hopefully a future client / friend / the guy who once crashed your wedding, is authenticity. Authenticity from me, and my work as your wedding photographer. Sure, I’ll offer you some minimal direction and I’ll take a few group shots for the fire place, but I don’t need to make you stand in weird positions or touch each others face unnaturally. The reason quite simply is because that’s not you. Wedding photography, for me, isn’t just about 5 images that’ll look nice on Instagram. Sure this can play a part at some point, but it’s more about authentic documentation. Capturing the full, sometimes raw, emotional story of your wedding day. From morning to party and everything in between. Beautiful moments. Sometimes not so beautiful moments. But authentic moments.
Hey It’s me: A bit more about my work as a london wedding photographer
I suppose I’m a wedding industry veteran now. My 3rd decade and I’m still going strong(ish). I’ve lost track of the hundreds of weddings I’ve documented over the years. (It was 500+ at the last count). Weddings rich with moments that linger long in the memory. I’m fueled by these experiences. New countries, new cultures. New conversations with strangers that let me witness the very best of life through every imaginable variation of culture and society. I work as both a London Wedding Photographer and as a Filmmaker but in essence I’m just a storyteller. I observe and capture real authentic moments and then weave them together to create something that will be preserved and cherished forever. Although the glamour and riches of my events are a stark contrast to my own existence, the parallels of simplicity through my work and my personal life are ever present. I live by the sea, enveloped by hills, mountains, lakes and rivers and the abundance of nature that accompanies such surroundings. Beauty surrounds, health abounds. By my side, always, is my incredible wife Kat. Her beauty and strength has been a constant in my life since we started our own journey over 25 years ago. Married as teenagers and without a care in the world, the adventure that followed has been wild. We’re parents to the two most incredible young women. Jennifer, our impassioned academic with degrees from both Cambridge and Oxford and Alice, the most beautiful, artistic soul and hardest worker I know. Raising two beautiful girls as mere children ourselves into strong, accomplished young women will always be my greatest achievement in life.
I’ve achieved things in my career that I never expected and never thought possible. I’ve certainly ticked every box if that’s even a thing? I’ve won awards across the world for my wedding services and have travelled the globe, often taking my friends and family along for the ride. I’ve had brand endorsements from some of the world’s biggest camera companies and have spoken at events across the world. I’ve experienced things that have made me pinch myself. I’ve shared food with Hollywood’s movie stars, I’ve experienced private performances from some of the world’s biggest music acts. I’ve danced with Spice girls and hung out with royalty. It’s been wild. Putting personal experiences aside, a greater satisfaction comes from simply connecting with real people. Everyone, anywhere in any situation. Kings, caterers, friends, family…. It’s about adapting to everyone in every environment. Building relationships that ultimately enhance the final product you’ll receive. It’s not all about being good with a camera. It’s being good with people.
It’s why (I hope) authenticity shines through in my work. I’m simply a storyteller and my legacy will always be the hundreds of thousands of preserved memories I’ve captured, scattered through homes across the world.
